There is always something great to uncover in DC, from the renowned memorials, unique architecture and great restaurants. Visit Einstein
You’ll find one of the greatest minds of the 20th Century relaxing by a grove of trees on the grounds of the National Academy of Sciences. This fantastic sculpture was unveiled in 1979 to mark the centenary of the brilliant scientist’s birth. He sits reading a book with a map of the stars at his feet. For an even better experience, visit the sculpture at night when the stars are lit up.
Jefferson Memorial
On the edge of the tidal basin, you will not only get to experience this monument and learn about the cultural history of DC, you will also be able to take in a stunning view from this high vantage point. See the whole city on a good day in this contradicting quiet location, which has plenty of interesting quotes on the walls.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
For those who are interested in the history or even have some memories of this war period, the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial will stun and silence you. Located near Einstein on Constitution Avenue, names still continue to be added to this memorial.
Arlington National Cemetery
If you are on the way to view the Pentagon, then be sure to stop by Arlington National Cemetery, which you will no doubt pass on the way. Here you can visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, view the solemn Changing of the Guard, and see the final resting place of JFK, as well as visit Arlington House and the Marine Corps (Iwo Jima) Memorial.
The attractions above are all definitely worth seeing, and would certainly make your trip that much more interesting and unique. Many of the attractions are located close to other main visitor hotspots so you may find yourself passing them on your travels to places like the Smithsonian Museums, White House or Lincoln Memorial.
