Father’s Day Fun in Washington

We know Father’s Day happens around the same time every year, but it doesn’t necessarily make the task of finding something fun and different to do any easier. If you usually plan a family meal at a nearby restaurant and are finding the Father’s Day festivities a bit repetitive, then why not check out some of the attractions and local hotspots that Washington DC has to offer?

With the Two Day Washington DC Grand Tour, you can encompass many of the highlights of DC in during your stay here. There’s something for everyone in this tour so it’s sure to keep fathers, sons, daughters and mothers entertained all day long. The only thing that isn’t included in this tour is lunch, so you might still find yourself having that family meal after all! However if that seems a bit too much for your regular Sunday, we have a variety of different tours available to suit all tastes.

Here are just some of the highlights you could be enjoying on Father’s Day with the Two Day DC Grand Tour:

Smithsonian Museums

Visit the Smithsonian Air and Space museum and the American History museum. Whether your father is a history buff or pictures himself as a would-be astronaut, there’s something to suit here, with plenty of history, exhibits, tales and things to do. Both of these are exclusive stops on our Grand Tour on Sunday only, so you can make the most of these stops this Father’s Day.

Mount Vernon

Take a trip to see the plantation home of one of our finest, and in fact very first President, George Washington. Originally constructed in the mid-1700s, this home has been restored and turned into a top tourist attraction. The grounds contain a number of buildings with attractions and live displays about George Washington himself and the American Revolution. This is a recommended experience that all the family can enjoy.

Memorial Visits

There are plenty of memorials to see in the heritage rich area of Washington DC. For a bit of culture, learning and history, wander through the capital and take in some breathtaking tributes to our forefathers. This is a great way to learn about some of the greatest fathers of our country. For instance, you can visit the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial which opened to the public in 2011. Located in the West Potomac Park, southwest of the National Mall, it is in the heart of DC. It’s also close to the memorials of other great men our country has produced, such as the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and Jefferson Memorial, so there’s lots to see, snap and remember.

Plus, there are many more great sites to see and interesting historical tales to learn, all told by our fantastic tour guides who have decades of experience in the tourism industry. To take up one of our tours, you will need to arrive at our Union Station office before 8am to guarantee a place on the tour. However it’s advised you get there between 7.30 and 7.45 to check in properly. Try out one of our tours today and enjoy a completely different Father’s Day experience!
