It’s almost time for the annual Taste of Georgetown Festival, which has proven popular with many residents and tourists alike. The festival returns for its 22nd year on 3rd October 2015, and there’s plenty to see and do here.
The festival itself is a gourmet food event, so it’s perfect for foodies and those who like to experience fantastic dishes from different cultures. You might find yourself stumbling upon the fantastic atmosphere as the Taste of Georgetown festivities take place on K Street, which is located along the beautiful Georgetown Waterfront.
What you can expect from the festival
The short but popular event takes place between 11am and 4pm and offers a selection of creative delicacies from the neighborhood’s best restaurants. As well as a range of food stalls and tasty treats to sample and purchase, there’s plenty to get involved in, with fun for all ages on offer. For the adults, there’s an expansive range of craft beer on offer, not to mention a wine pavilion, giving you something excellent to accompany your food.
There will also be live entertainment on the day, with music, family friendly activities, bocce ball courts, balloon animal making sessions and face painting open for all ages. There’s even a sing-along event with Georgetown piano bar players if you fancy a song, and there’s a macaroon eating competition if you think you’ve got what it takes to beat the competition!
For a bit of a thrill be sure to stay for the Chef’s Showdown, which sees some of the areas hottest chefs compete against each other using only their culinary skills. The competition is judged by some of DC’s top food experts and media personnel.
In addition to providing a fun day out for all, the Taste of Georgetown event is also invaluable for the local community. Proceeds from the event benefit the Georgetown Ministry Center’s services supporting the homeless.
