What can you see on this Tour?
When looking for things to do in Washington, visitors can be discouraged from seeing Gettysburg because of the travelling involved. There’s no need to be worried about this with our tour, as we’ll pick you up from Union Station and take you directly there. This is much easier than using public transport and you’ll also have the benefit of a licensed driver guide guide taking you to your destination.
The Battle of Gettysburg was one of the most pivotal moments in American history and there’s no better place to learn all about it. Your day starts with a visit to the Shriver House Museum. In this location, you’ll be privy to seeing what life was like for those who lived in the town during the Civil War. These aren’t the tales of the soldiers; they’re the stories of those that lived in Gettysburg. The museum was the home of the Shriver family and the house has been restored to its 1860s state. Reenactors are on hand to show visitors how they would have lived in this time. There’s no electricity or modern technology inside the house, so visitors can get a real feel for how things would have been for this family. There are a number or artifacts as well, such as dolls and ammunition, which are on display in the home.
The day in Gettysburg continues with a visit to the Gettysburg Visitor Center, where you will see an orientation film and receive a unique Cyclorama experience. The Cyclorama is a 360-degree painted mural, depicting the third day of the battle, highlighting specific locations, as well Pickett's Charge. Finally, seeing the battlefield first hand is a must. Experienced, award-winning tour guides will board the motor coach with you and drive around the battlefield for two hours, showing you places of note like Little and Big Round Top, the Devil's Den, Peach Orchard, Wheat Field and more.
In addition to your Gettysburg tour, you will also take our most popular tour, DC After Dark. This can be taken on the same day as your Gettysburg tour, or on a different night, if you need some rest. Ride around the city at night and get off to view the monuments in person, we’ll even stop for a photo op at the White House. If you want to learn more about this tour specifically, visit our dedicated DC After Dark page.
