The Best Halloween Events in Washington DC
As the capital of the USA, it’s practically part of Washington DC’s job to lead the way on annual events like Halloween. Thankfully, the city does it well, with plenty to see and do at the scariest time of year. Here are just some of the best Halloween events taking place at the capital this year:
Boo at the Zoo
For those who love Halloween and animals, this is the perfect combination for you. Taking place from 5:30 to 8:30pm between October 23rd and 25th, this Halloween celebration at the National Zoo explores bats, spiders, owls and other spooky animals. Dress up in your favorite costume while enjoying zoo keeper talks, haunted trails and collect candy at over 40 treat stations in the spooky zoo setting!
Halloween Parade Vienna
This parade is held just outside DC in Vienna, Virginia. Head down to Maple Avenue, between Branch Road and Center Street in plenty of time for this parade’s 7pm kick off on October 28th. Watch the whole community get together to show off their costumes. Don’t be put off by the rain as this parade is held in any type of weather.
Halloween Trains at Montgomery Parks
Take advantage of the unique opportunity on Halloween to ride a ghost train! Two Halloween themed rides are available at Montgomery Parks located in Rockville, Maryland. There is one option of a fun ride for those up to 8 years old, and a spookier thrill for those over 8. Do you dare to try it out? This event is definitely fun for the whole family.
If you enjoy Halloween but do not dress up or enjoy getting scared by monsters, you can always watch the Halloween fun from a comfortable motorcoach and from the hub of DC on our DC After Dark Tour. Watch the city illuminated in light, with some of the most famous monuments and attractions lit up beautifully. Of course if you book for Halloween, who knows what other ghosts and ghouls you might see on this photo tour!
